Larry Rubin
Founder and Principal
Larry Rubin is an accomplished program management and operations executive with more than 40 years of space industry experience. His background includes strategic planning and business development, spacecraft systems engineering & operations, strategic sourcing, and business transformation. Larry has held top management and technical leadership positions on dozens of large space programs for a wide range of international commercial and government customers.
As an independent consultant specializing in satellite systems since 2018, Larry advances company strategies and business development for access to space, system architecture, development & integration, and market competitiveness.
Larry was Chief Operating Officer of SpaceLink from 2020 through 2022. He was instrumental in establishing the company’s vision of a communication service to advance space commerce, exploration, environmental awareness, and security. Larry led the initial investment and asset acquisition, stood up the company, and led operations, program management, supply chain, security, and IT.
Larry held a variety of executive positions at Space Systems Loral (SSL), a unit of Maxar Technologies and a leading provider of innovative spacecraft systems. He directed more than 20 successful geostationary satellite programs from inception to delivery as Vice President for International Programs. Larry led an enterprise-wide business transformation as VP of Enterprise Competitiveness that improved products and significantly reduced costs and schedules. He led Maxar’s procurement team to optimize its global supply chain and strategic sourcing. Larry has led numerous advanced programs and business development efforts at SSL, including proposals and contract negotiations to capture over $3 billion of business.
Before joining SSL, Larry directed Commercial Systems Engineering at Hughes Space & Communications (now part of Boeing). He managed satellite systems acquisition for the Galaxy programs at Hughes Communications, Inc., and managed systems engineering for the Galileo Jupiter Probe.
Larry has a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Michigan and completed the Management Development Program at the UCLA Anderson Graduate School of Management. He was awarded the NASA Exceptional Public Service Medal for his leadership of the Galileo Probe systems engineering team.
